Ugen Gurung Taekwondo

Ugen Gurung, an impressive 18-year-old Taekwondo talent hailing from Sikkim. Ugen’s exceptional Taekwondo skills earned him a scholarship for a three-year course in Graphic Animation and Sports at Suseong University, Korea, sponsored by the Korean Government – a historic first for someone from his state.

Currently, Ugen is undergoing rigorous Taekwondo training in Korea under the guidance of Prof Kim Kaman, an international coach and referee with experience judging Taekwondo at the Olympics and other international events. Despite the demanding schedule that sometimes allows him only four hours of sleep, Ugen is content with the invaluable knowledge he’s gaining from Prof Kiman’s outstanding training.

His journey began in 2001 when he won his first medal at the state-level Taekwondo championship held at Paljor Stadium, and he hasn’t looked back since.
